Expert Guidance for Complex Vision Cases

If you’ve been told your case is too complicated for treatment, or if past procedures haven’t delivered the results you expected, you deserve a thorough evaluation from a true specialist. At Bellevue Precision Vision, we specialize in diagnosing and treating complex corneal and refractive conditions using cutting-edge technology and personalized surgical solutions. Whether you’re exploring options for previously inoperable conditions, corneal disease, or post-surgical complications, our expertise ensures that no case is too difficult to assess.

What Is a Complex Case Consultation?

Complex case consultation is an in-depth assessment of patients with unique, challenging, or previously untreatable eye conditions. Unlike standard eye exams, this specialized consultation includes the following:

  • A detailed review of medical history and previous treatments.
  • Advanced diagnostic testing using state-of-the-art imaging and corneal analysis.
  • A personalized treatment plan based on the latest innovations in refractive and corneal surgery.

This consultation is ideal for patients with complicated corneal disorders, prior vision correction surgeries, or other conditions requiring specialized expertise.

Who Can Benefit from a Complex Case Consultation?

You may benefit from a complex case consultation if you:

  • Have been told you are not a candidate for LASIK, SMILE, or other vision correction procedures.
  • Suffer from keratoconus, corneal scarring, or a previous corneal transplant.
  • Have had prior LASIK, PRK, or cataract surgery but are experiencing complications.
  • Need a second opinion on a previously diagnosed condition or treatment plan.
  • Have an irregular cornea or extreme prescription that requires advanced surgical solutions.

During your consultation, Dr. Audrey Talley Rostov, MD, a renowned corneal and refractive specialist, will thoroughly evaluate your case and recommend safe, effective treatment options tailored to your needs.

What to Expect Superficial Keratectomy

Pre-Procedure Consultation

We conduct a thorough eye exam to assess corneal irregularities, scarring, or Salzmann’s nodular degeneration, ensuring superficial keratectomy is the right treatment.

Preparing for the Procedure

  • You may need to stop wearing contact lenses in the days leading up to surgery.
  • Pre-procedure eye drops may be prescribed to prepare the cornea.
  • Arrange for transportation home, as vision may be temporarily blurry post-procedure.

The Superficial Keratectomy Procedure (10-15 minutes per eye)

  • Numbing eye drops are applied for comfort.
  • The surgeon gently removes the irregular corneal tissue using a precision instrument.
  • A bandage contact lens may be placed to aid healing.

Post-Procedure Recovery

  • Expect mild discomfort, light sensitivity, and blurred vision for a few days.
  • Vision gradually sharpens as the corneal surface regenerates.
  • Follow-up visits ensure proper healing and long-term vision stability.
